Romantic love isn’t all that
The main danger in romantic love is that it tends to result in excessive attachment to the loved one. Consequently, much anxiety occurs when the beloved is absent or abandons you, causing your attachment to Allah Almighty and His Messenger, Allah bless him and give him peace, to weaken, if not be lost entirely. If you are captive to this type of romantic love, then consider the words of Sheikh Niffari, “Desire is a fire that eats away decency in which alone resides dignity.”

My comments: You can say that again!!
My jasad. My ruh.
I’m back, and I’m brown and bulat too due to excessive consumption of BBQ-ed chicken. Yes, I’ve been travelling around, and enjoying the sun…with a bunch of awesome girlies. Time spent with sisters are just so fun!
When I see people who have so much passion and eagerness to learn about Allah and the deen, it is an inspiration for me… and also a cue for self-evaluation (muhasabah).
I remember clearly how I used to have so much zeal when it came to learning about Islam. So curious about so many things about Islam and it’s teachings. So excited about the new discoveries as the greatness of Allah unfolds before my eyes.
Over a year has passed and the energy and enthusiasm has wavered. Slightly. It’s such a big reminder to me on how much I have mellowed (in a non encouraging way) since my hijrah. I miss the insatiability to seek for knowledge, or the strong drive to draw myself closer to Allah, or the great need to develop my adab and akhlaq. Has the new yorker syndrome dampened my spirit? Have I become too proud? Have I gotten to distracted with my work that I forget my own daily dose of pure soul food?
Ya Rabbi…do not let me be Your servant who becomes complacent in her jihad towards Your Love and Greatness. Ya Allah…do not let me be Your servant who constantly remembers to feed her jasad, but often forgets to satisfy her ruh.
Why doesn’t everybody have faith?
Assalamualaikum warahmatullah and hello family and friends,
I thought I’d let people know that I’m still well and alive – in case any of you were wondering. Yarps! I had my first exam yesterday and it was…completed
So I have 2 more tomorrow, and it’ll be goodbye for the 1st half of the course. Please make dua for me so I may get through this 2nd semester. Jazakumallahu khair.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s exams, and can’t wait to get them over and done with. Har har har. But I’m more excited about my to-do list that I intend to complete once the exams are over
Uh huh~ I’m EMBRACING work :p I have a couple of emails and PMs to reply, “speeches” to prepare anddddddd stuff to translate. I’m baaack to translating! Oh, and I also look forward to meeting my girls. Lovies! Insya Allah.
I’ll be away from 5th-14th, but I plan to bring around this laptop of mine. I’ll be contactable, but work may slow down a bit…or maybe not. We’ll see.
Till then…jaga hati, jaga iman.
It it had been the Lord’s Will they would all have believed all who are on earth! Wilt thouh compel mankind against their will to believe! No soul can believe except by the Will of Allah and He will place Doubt (or obscurity) on those who will not understand (Yunus 10:99-100)
