Healing and Mercy

without comments

Here’s a little something that I stumbled upon that I humbly believe is read-worthy.

Source: “Medical Miracles of the Quran”, Dr. Sharif Kaf Al-Ghazal. The Islamic Foundation, UK. p. 104-105. (Friday Nasiha)

Al-Isra (The Night Journey)
Chapter 17: Verse 82 (Partial)

Healing and Mercy
“We send down (stage by stage) in the Quran, that which is a healing and mercy.”

The results of researches conducted over a group of volunteers from the USA who were subject to a recitation of the Quran were striking. A trace of a tranquilizing effect was recorded on 97% of the participants. Although many of these volunteers did not know Arabic, they nonetheless experienced involuntary physiological changes that led to notable alleviation in the acuity of tension they were observed to possess in their nervous systems prior to the experiment.

Furthermore, an EEG experiment during the Quran recitation revealed that the encephalic waves moved at a slower pattern, indicating a state of deep calmness. Non-Arabic speaking people felt assured, quite, and relaxed when listening to the Quranic verses, in spite of their inability to understand their meaning. This is one the miracles of the Holy Quran.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, revealed this miracle by saying, “People assembled in one of the houses of Allah (Mosques), and who recite and study the Book of Allah, find that a tranquility prevails over them, and that mercy encompasses them, and that the angels surround them, and that Allah mentions them in the presence of those near Him.”

Refining the niyyah

without comments

On Monday night, I learnt something that I find is worth sharing.

All that we do – daily activities and ibadah, should be for the sake of Allah. Lillahita’ala. Something I believe that a majority of us are well informed about. However, we should not do any ibadah because we want to go to Jannah…because that would mean we’re doing it for the sake of Jannah.  And we shouldn’t do ibadah because we’re afraid of the hell fire..because it would mean that we’re doing it for the sake of Hell fire.  Instead, Jannah and Naar should be MOTIVATORS so that we’d strive to live our life for the sake of Allah. I hope this little information can help us all in putting things into perspective. Insya Allah. Dengan izin Allah :) May Allah reward the Sheikh who passed this knowledge onto us. Amin.

Let us all pray for them

without comments

I know I said I’d refrain myself from wordpressing, but I think my blogging ontogeny is making the behaviour quite difficult to suppress. But I haven’t watched a single TV show since the last post; so that’s record breaking :D

On a more serious note,  I just checked out Brudirect minutes ago and it worries me to hear news about the floods and landslides. You can read the news here and here. Laa hawla walla quwata illa billah. There is no change nor stength except through Allah. Let us all pray for their safety and well being. May Allah give them strength and preserverence to get through these tough times. Amin..amin..amin…ya Rabbalalamin.

I’ve got Skinner’s shoes to fill

without comments

I’ve made up my mind. I’m going on a hiatus. Too soon to go on a hiatus? Says whoooooo~?

Seriusly, I need to limit my internet time. Even without the internet, I could still find ways on how to waste those precious, precious minutes. This laptop is E.V.I.L! It’s such a distraction.  I’ve got my mid terms next week (i.e. 3rd Nov & 4th Nov), so it’s only wise for me to spend the rest of the week preparing for them. 70% PASSING mark, remember? So no facebook, no MSN, no blogging. MUST. FOCUS.

So I’ll come back the next Wednesday, insya Allah. Smack me if you see me blogging anytime before that…or if you happen to see me on my MSN…or facebook. Yes, I might appear as if I’m over doing it, but we are talking about my future here. I might not follow the rules I have set for myself to the T, but I sure will try.

WISH ME LUCK PEOPLE! Doa2 sekalian untuk kejayaan saya, hamba, peramba sangatlah di hargai. Jazzakallahu khairan :)

SEE YOU ALL SOON!

Seen!: SAW V

with 2 comments

I love SAW. I think I’ve watched all of them except for SAW 1. I think the movie is uber smart. I love not knowing what to expect…throughout the movie or in the end. I love how the whole psychological drama, and how it keeps you at the edge of your seat.

Well, I sort of just got back from watching SAW V. My verdict? Well…I didn’t think it was a good as the earlier ones. I would’ve liked a better ending…but I generally liked the other parts of the movie. Is it worth watching it at the movies? Of course it is! You wouldn’t be able to experience the whole impact of the movie from your dear home speakers. But if you have a superior home theater set up with a HUGE TV…yea~ go wait for the DVD

Got to break that habit

without comments

I have successfully refrained myself from switching on my laptop for *calculates* 5 hours! Yes, that is one BIG achievement for me!

I’ve realised how overly dependent I have become on my laptop and this thing you call internet. Every morning, with eyes half closed, I’d make my way to that ON button. It’s as if there’s this invisible force that cause the series of bodily movements to switch on this…thing. Wake up? Go online. Can’t sleep? Watch something on the net. Nothing to do? Surf the internet. It’s pathetic how most of my life revolves around this tiny machine.

So this morning (*cough* morning?), I thought to myself, “That’s it! I’m not going to switch on my laptop until necessary. I’ll just end up surfing and watching a series of TV shows, and I’d waste half of my day just. like. that.” Applied a bit of self-management there whereby I replaced a target behaviour with another behaviour. I replaced my fiddling around with my laptop with….a cup of coffee…reading a book…making breakfast…revising…until I had to switch my laptop on to do the online MCT. Soon, you’ll be seeing me switching off my laptop again to do more revision. Banar! :D

Anyway, haaaaaaave a good weekend beautiful people! ;)

What can WE do for our country?

without comments

*fingers on temples*eyes closed* I forsee…*wrinkles forehead* that today will be a productive day! :D

So, I went to Brudirect.com and scanned through the pages. I haven’t really been catching up with news from home since I got here. Adjusting to new surroundings can take some time, y’know~ :p

So this headline caught my eye: New Salary Scale For Govt Teachers

Oh I bet the Bruneians teachers were jumping for joy when they heard about this. Syukur alhamdulilah. Brunei is still able to provide such benefits for its people. Now name a country that’s as generous as Brunei? I’d like to dissect this news article a bit, but it’s still too early in the day for me :D So I shall end with, don’t ask what the country can do for you, but ask what YOU can do for your country! A bit cliche, but there’s a lot of truth in it, don’t you think? :D
